Monogram Wreath Tutorial

Happy Monday! Are you enjoying watching the Olympics? We are!! Swimming, gymnastics, volleyball….We watch it all. What did you think about the opening ceremonies? My favorite part was the lighting of the torch. I thought it was absolutely beautiful.

Last week, I showed you how I painted the inside of my front door. I wanted to add a little something to the door, so it wasn’t just plain black. I had a bundle of greenery that I picked up at Hobby Lobby for another project (but didn’t use) and I thought I could do something with it.

I had a few of these plain frames that came from Dollar Tree and I picked up the wooden initial at Michaels’s for $3.99. With the cost of the greenery ($3.00 with a coupon), this project cost a total of $8.00. Not bad!

First, I glued the wooden initial to the back of the frame using E6000 glue. It takes a while to dry, but it really holds. It works great for gluing glass, too.

Then I pulled all of the little greenery pieces off the bundle. They were all the same length…about 2 1/2 inches.

I started gluing….

and gluing….

I glued 3-4 in a row and overlapping as I went in order to cover the ends. I glued them so the tops went in a counterclockwise direction.

When I finished, I hung it on the door….but I felt like it needed a little something else.

I had an extra 11×16 cardstock mat, so I used some Command Poster Strips to stick it to the door behind the frame. It was exactly what it needed!! It made it stand out against the black. I think it looks great!!

What do you think? Not bad for $8…right!!
